About Me

Matt Horton has spent the last decade cooking in Charleston kitchens, honing his craft in some of the city’s most creative rooms. A true product of this city, he has carried lessons and flavors from Xiao Bao Biscuit, Restaurant Tu, Colectivo, Gingerbug, and Baba’s into his own vision with Sidekicks.

Sidekicks is rooted in joy, boldness, and a touch of mischief. It is food that honors mentors and inspirations while insisting on it’s own identity. It is also about partnership. Matt’s wife, Hannah, has forged her own path through Charleston’s food and beverage world, and her eye for hospitality and vibe-setting has become inseparable from the Sidekicks ethos. Together, they create experiences designed to resonate long after the last bite.

For Charleston Wine + Food, Matt brings Sidekicks forward to showcase both a personal journey and a larger vision: a future of Charleston dining where technique meets chaos, and where food is as fun as it is flavorful.
