About Me

Born and raised in Hawaii, Chef Troy Guard has cooked his way around the world — from Hong Kong and Singapore to New York City — before making Denver his home in 2002. A protégé of renowned Chef Roy Yamaguchi, Guard honed his craft at celebrated restaurants and luxury hotels including The Peninsula in Hong Kong, Raffles in Singapore, and TAO in New York.

In 2009, he opened his first restaurant, TAG, launching what is now TAG Restaurant Group: six unique concepts across eleven locations, including the award-winning modern steakhouse Guard and Grace, bold Mexican hotspot Los Chingones, boozy brunch favorite HashTAG, and more. His menus blend Hawaiian roots with global influences, earning him accolades such as Best Chef in Denver, Bar & Restaurant Expo’s Chef of the Year, and a MICHELIN Guide recommendation for Guard and Grace.

Passionate about giving back, Guard actively supports local and national charities, making as much impact in the community as he does in the kitchen.
