About Me

Tori Schumacher is the Executive Chef of The Ordinary in Charleston, SC, an acclaimed, James Beard Award–nominated oyster hall and seafood restaurant. He joined the restaurant in 2015 as a line cook and, over the past decade, has become an integral part of its identity. Known for his precision, work ethic, and calm leadership, Schumacher has helped uphold the consistency and high standards that define The Ordinary.

A Denver native, he began his culinary career with Ben and Karen Barker at Magnolia Grill (Durham, NC), later gaining experience at Gary Danko (San Francisco) before finding his long-term home at The Ordinary. Working alongside James Beard Award–winning Chef Mike Lata, Schumacher refined his craft and deepened his understanding of Charleston’s seafood traditions. As Executive Chef, Schumacher oversees the restaurant’s culinary vision while honoring its reputation for showcasing the bounty of the Lowcountry. His leadership extends beyond the kitchen, fostering an environment of collaboration and discipline that has shaped the restaurant for over a decade.

Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his wife, Pastry Chef Caitlin Schumacher, and their daughter, Isla.
