Tia Clark
She/her/hersAbout Me
Tia Clark, a Charleston, South Carolina native and a 20-year veteran of the food and beverage industry, is the passionate founder of Casual Crabbing with Tia. Her journey into the world of crabbing began unexpectedly in 2017 during a personal health transformation. Seeking a healthier lifestyle after quitting smoking, Tia discovered the therapeutic joy and physical activity of crabbing. What started as a personal pursuit quickly blossomed into a unique and highly acclaimed Airbnb Experience called “Let’s Go Crabbing.”
Through Casual Crabbing with Tia, Tia shares her deep love and respect for the Charleston waterways and its marine life with visitors from around the world. Her “Let’s Go Crabbing” experience offers a hands-on introduction to local crabbing techniques, often including instruction on how to handle crabs safely, throw cast nets, and even fish. Tia’s genuine enthusiasm and connection to the environment have made her experience exceptionally popular, earning her recognition as one of Airbnb’s top hosts globally.
Beyond offering memorable and educational experiences, Tia is deeply committed to the health of the local ecosystem. She actively collaborates with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, participating in projects such as building and deploying artificial oyster reefs. These efforts contribute to water filtration and the creation of vital habitats for marine life in the Charleston estuary.
Tia Clark’s Casual Crabbing with Tia is more than just a business; it’s a reflection of her personal journey, a celebration of the natural beauty of Charleston, and a testament to the positive impact of connecting people with the environment. She has successfully transitioned from the demanding food and beverage industry to pursue her dream of sharing her passion for the water and fostering environmental awareness.
