Nour Bizri
She/her/hersAbout Me
Nour Bizri is the owner of Bright Light Bakery and a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate in Charleston, South Carolina. Bright Light Bakery is a micro-bakery that specializes in artisan sourdough bread and pastries. Currently, her bread and treats are available at 6 retail stores in the Charleston area, and is a vendor at Second Sunday Market on King Street & the Charleston Farmers Market. She also teaches educational and hands on sourdough workshop classes at The Chefs Collective and other locations in West Ashley. Nour participated in the 2025 Charleston Wine + Food.
In 2018, Nour was involved in a freak accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury and a diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder. This neurological processing disorder affects a person’s mental, emotional, and physical functioning. Introduced to the sourdough process by her sister, Nour discovered that baking sourdough bread helps reduce her seizures by allowing her to slow down, process, and understand her thoughts and feelings in real-time. The mission of Bright Light Bakery is not only to provide clean and simple artisan bread and pastries to the Lowcountry community but also to raise awareness and normalize conversations about mental health within the culinary industry and life.
