About Me
Dayna Lee is the chef and owner of Comal 864 in Greenville, South Carolina. A 2023 James Beard Award semi finalist chef, Dayna has earned national recognition for her vibrant take on Mexican American cuisine. Her restaurant, Comal 864, was named one of USA Today’s Best Restaurants of 2025, and her work has been featured on Eater as well as on the Food Network, where she competed on Beat Bobby Flay.
After moving to Greenville several years ago, Dayna noticed the area was missing the fresh, flavorful Mexican food she grew up with. Inspired by her grandmother’s cooking in the Rio Grande Valley, she set out to share those authentic flavors with the Upstate community.
Following a brief stint in the corporate world, Dayna combined her two passions, the food of her culture and genuine personal hospitality, to create Comal 864, a restaurant known for its bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and heartfelt approach to dining.
Beyond the kitchen, Dayna serves as an advisor for Harvest Hope Food Bank, where she supports efforts to fight food insecurity and strengthen community food access across South Carolina.
Through her cooking, mentorship, and community work, Dayna continues to celebrate her roots while bringing a modern and soulful perspective to Mexican American cuisine.
