For 20 years, Charleston Wine + Food has celebrated the chefs and restaurants that helped shape the city into one of America’s great dining destinations—and few places embody that story more than Peninsula Grill. Since opening its doors in 1997, this Charleston landmark has been synonymous with Southern elegance, world-class hospitality, and unforgettable cuisine.

At the heart of it all was Chef Bob Carter, Peninsula Grill’s founding chef, whose bold vision and refined approach not only defined the restaurant’s culinary voice but also helped put Charleston on the national stage as a serious food city. Bob’s recent passing is a profound loss for our community, but his legacy lives on in every dish, every detail, and every guest experience that Peninsula Grill continues to deliver.

This special anniversary dinner pays tribute to Chef Carter, as well as the talented chefs who carried his vision forward and those who, alongside Chef Courtney Van Dyke, continue to shape Peninsula Grill into the icon it is today.

Guests will gather in the restaurant’s lush, twinkle-lit courtyard, framed by greenery, for an elegant multi-course dinner that traces Peninsula Grill’s history. Each course will honor a chapter in its story while showcasing the restaurant’s enduring standard of excellence, thoughtfully paired with wines to elevate the evening.
