The Art of Mentorship: A Shared Table @ Kultura
In Charleston’s kitchens, mentorship is more than tradition—it’s the heartbeat of our culinary community. The art of teaching, learning, and passing knowledge from one chef to the next is what has kept this city at the forefront of the national dining scene.
For this unforgettable evening, Chef Nikko Cagalanan of Kultura Charleston, a James Beard semifinalist celebrated for weaving his Filipino heritage into the Lowcountry’s fabric, joins his longtime mentor, Chef Vinson Petrillo of Zero George and Costa, a two-time Food Network “Chopped” champion and James Beard–recognized chef known for his refined, imaginative cuisine.
Though Nikko and Vinson have walked side by side through Charleston’s kitchens for years, this marks the first time they’ll cook together as peers—a moment that beautifully captures the full circle of their journey from student and teacher to collaborators and friends.
Guests will enjoy a multi-course dinner that highlights both chefs’ distinctive styles, creativity, and storytelling, all brought to life on the plate. This is a celebration of mentorship, friendship, and the community spirit that continue to shape Charleston’s kitchens and keep the city at the top of the culinary map.
